Q. When do the World Cup games take place?
A. The opening match takes place in Seoul's Sangam-dong World Cup Stadium on May 31, 2002, and the final in Yokohama Stadium, in Japan, on June 30. For full details of the dates and times of all the games, please see the "Match Schedule" section.

Q. Which cities are hosting World Cup games?
A. Korea and Japan have each nominated 10 host cities, and each country will host a total of 32 of the 64 games that make up the opening round. The Korean host cities are Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Incheon, Gwangju, Daejeon, Ulsan, Suwon, Jeonju and Seogwipo, while in Japan, Yokohama, Sapporo, Miyagi, Ibaraki, Saitama, Niigata, Shizuoka, Osaka, Kobe and Oita have been selected. For more information on the venues and arrangements for each game, keep an eye on the "KOWOC News" section, where regular updates will be provided.

Q. When will tickets be available?
A. Sales of tickets, both in Korea and worldwide, begin on Feb. 15, 2001. Applications for tickets will be accepted until March 14, 2001. Successful applications will be decided by the drawing of lots.

Q. How do I go about getting tickets?
A. FIFA, KOWOC and JAWOC have decided to release full details of ticketing procedures simultaneously, shortly before tickets go on sale. Detailed information on ticketing procedures will be made public through the mass media by early February 2001. Those with additional queries should contact the KOWOC main switchboard (+82-2-2016-2002) or the ticketing section (+82-2-2016-2433/4).

Q. How much will tickets cost?
A. The ticket prices will vary, depending on the game and the seating area. Overall prices will range from around US $60 to US $750. For a more comprehensive breakdown of prices, please refer to the "Ticket Information" section.

Q. How many countries are taking part in the 2002 World Cup?
A. Out of the 204 FIFA member nations, a total of 198 are taking part in the preliminary rounds on six continents to earn the right to play in the final tournament. France, as champions, and Korea and Japan, as co-hosts, qualify automatically, and will be joined by 29 qualifiers to make up a final total of 32.

Q. What is the format of the final tournament?
A. The qualifying rounds run from March 2000 to November 2001. With the 32 finalists confirmed, the draw for the finals will take place in Korea in December 2001. The opening round, starting on May 31, 2002, consists of eight groups of four teams each, and will be played in a league format. Two teams from each group qualify for the last 16, from which point the tournament is played on a knockout basis.

Q. I’d like to get some information about volunteer workers for the 2002 FIFA World Cup?
A. (Korean) People’s attention to, and interest in the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/JapanTMare one of the keys to the successful hosting of the world football festival.
The Korean Organizing Committee for the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/JapanTM(KOWOC) began to receive applications for the volunteer service in April this year and selected more than 16,000 volunteers, who work in 13 service fields, after review of documents and face-to-face interviews with applicants in September.
Selected volunteers, who are receiving basic training and education on the 2002 FIFA World Cup and their mission, will be subject to on-the-job training (OJT) and on-site education, depending on their specific missions, starting early next year. Then they will be assigned to specific workplaces.
